Juan Gamboa is an NYC-based yoga teacher who has been teaching yoga since 2009.  He started practicing yoga in the late 90s when he stumbled upon a walk-up studio on Lafayette street called Jivamukti.  He attended his first yoga class with skepticism and incurable anxiety.

Before teaching full time, he worked in corporate America.  With an undergrad and Master’s degree in Chemistry, his former lives have involved working as a Scientist for Merck, Sanofi and Celgene.  He’s also spent time in the financial services in the role of Research Manager for a private investment research group.  He was laid off in the financial crisis in 2008 and received his 200 certification from Sonic Yoga in NYC’s Hell’s Kitchen. He was called to a deeper purpose - love for wellness, travel,  And a calling to serve the NYC community.  He continues with a daily self practice  to help manage anxiety,  balance work and life.  and find play every day.  He aims to impart what’s he’s learned from practicing over 20 years to his students.

After receiving his 200 hour yoga certification in Hell’s Kitchen at Sonic Yoga in 2009, he got certified in a 100 hour certification in Restorative Yoga at Pure Yoga, a 200 hour certification MNDFL training for meditation, a 75 hour certificate from Kula Yoga Project.  He has led and co-led retreats all over the world - Dubai, Bangkok, Mexico, Monica Cartagena, Koh Sammi, Goa, Sri Lanka, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Santa Catalina.   However, he is probably most at home in his tiny West Village space, a part of New York he has called home for over 10 consecutive years.
